An inspirational chorus

By GMB. I'm so thankful for songwriters like them. And here's my translation attempt.

"Tak Sebanding"
--------------.------"Incomparable"

Semua yang kubanggakan------------All that I am proud of
S'mua kekayaan dunia----------------All the riches of the world
Tak sebanding dengan----------------Is incomparable
Cinta yang kau berikan---------------To the love that you give

Apa yang dalam impian---------------What's in my dreams
Bahkan hasrat yang terdalam--------And the deepest of my desires
Kau jadikan nyata---------------------You make them real
Saat ku menyembahmu---------------As I worship you

Dan dunia pun mencari----------.----And all the world now seeks the
Jawapan tanpa tahu kebenaran-----Answer but not know the truth
Bahwa kaulah raja yang dahsyat----That you're the tremendous king
Pemb'ri kehidupan--------------------The giver of all life

Ker'na semua yang kucapai----------For all that I've achieved
Semua yang tercurah oleh-----------All that is poured by the
Kebaikan kasihmu--------------.-----Goodness of your love
Anug'rahmu membuatku percaya---Your grace makes me believe
Bah'wa tak pernah ada yang---------That there never is anything
Mustahil bagi--------------------.-----That's impossible for
S'mua yang menyembahmu----------All those who worship you

This song energized me in the moments leading up to the exam at the end of last semester.

A Vision for the World

Because the greatest ransom is paid for each one of them.

It's no coincidence that I'm no longer relying on Mom and Dad financially. No coincidence that I'm sponsored to study. No coincidence that Mom and Dad were each sponsored during their time too. And no coincidence that I'm able to pass on ("flow") this financial support that I've got.

Isn't it incredible? Someone in another continent could have his/her life forever changed because of someone else's contribution. It could be yours.

Wishes

"Wow ure becoming the very focused person that I know u wil become...praise God for answering my prayers."
I just emptied my phone Inbox last night (it had 780+ SMSes!) and the first new one to arrive is the one above. It was from Dad.

Honestly nothing feels better than receiving encouragement from our parents. As children, we're meant to honour them. And think about it: we're always their children. When I turn 30, Mom and Dad are still my mom and dad. That's why I cherish family relationship so much. Thanks so much Dad for the wish.

Now my wish is for every person to experience the family love that I've been blessed with. There's nothing like it. Especially for those who never had a father's discipline or a mother's tender care. Who never had someone in life to look up to. I wish that someone would take that place in your life. (Maybe it's Someone? And perhaps one day you'll become that someone for others.)

Week 8.5 (Medicine)

This week of break gives me some freedom to think about my AMS. Aaah, the AMS year...

Lab doesn't look too bad to me, despite the repeated descriptors "9 to 5, Monday to Friday" and "boring, repetitive work" that I keep hearing from people. Lab means laboratory-based/experimental research, and hasn't empirical, objective trials and observations fascinated me ever since primary school? Someone's gotta do it, and I'm actually happy spending a year becoming that someone.

And just as a side note, these words have become more and more attractive to me: pharmacology, neuroscience and anaesthesia. I don't yet fully know what they mean, but they attract me nonetheless. Contrast that with medical ethics and liver tumours (again, someone's gotta do them...but maybe not me).

And of course, the main build-up, progressive event for this week:

If you're gonna be there, then start expecting something big!
