A Child Again

Don't you sometimes get sentimental about sweet childhood memories that flash back every once in a while?

The cute elephant stamp reminds me of the first few times that I got correct answers in tadika.

It's great to be right (correct).

But honestly, I feel that people have got to be more humble with what little that we seem to know.

Because that's when we'll learn of newer, fresher stuff that will drive us forward even more.

People need...to become like children again.

Turn of the tide

What do you get when you add an LCD TV and PS2 Mortal Kombat to a daily life like mine?

Something which can turn me from the silent, study mode to excited, uncontrollable mode.
At least that's what's been happening this week.

My 10% assignment almost got affected by this imbalance. Thankfully it didn't. But what scared me more was this: I finished it around 2 am (as always), and we're supposed to submit it online. But an error message came up, saying "Please insert a valid file!". And it happened for like 5 times in a row! I solved the problem by using my roommate's laptop. Thanks roommate!
This week I look forward to Urban Life on Wed (and hospital visit), jogging on Thu - which is becoming more and more routine for me - and the Run for the Kids on Sunday morning! This is actually unheard of -- me running/jogging on a Sunday morning! And also, of course I'm expecting my midsem mark.
What's the turn of the tide? It's from being busy with stuff that seem to burden so much, to looking forward to what more can be greatly achieved next. Because there is victory after every mountain climbed. And the victory grows with the mountain.

And here's the graph that I wanted to show you (made with MSpaint):

I think Med is something like this. It's actually pretty easy to pass (50 and above -- doesn't take that much time, does it?) But to get H1's, and particularly the highest H1's (last sem the top mark was 91%, second was 88%)...well, you can see how much study time is "needed".

The 30 second blog post

Ahhh... the pre-test (exam) sensation...

15 questions in 15 minutes. Multiple choice (5 options).

And the preparation time takes almost 15 days. (Five weeks of stuff to be covered.)

Sometimes it feels so frustrating.

I'll draw a graph later to show what I mean.

Addictive Facebook Apps

Like Mafia Wars.

I didn't have any idea what I was getting into. The first few acts/scenes in the game was so simple, I couldn't help ignoring it. All I needed to do was click a button (an action button).

Now I'm level 12 with 32 members in my gang. I noticed, this is one of those games where connections (networks) rule. The more friends you've got, the better off you'll be. For example, Mafia Mike's (a building) give the highest income rate. For about $10,000 each (price goes up after you buy 'em), the hourly income is $12,000. Which means you can get back your money's worth in 1 hour. The twist is, you need more Mafia members to buy more of these buildings. I need 33 Mafia members to get my 14th Mafia Mike's.

Another member number-dependent thing is the Gold Desert Eagle, a $10,000 pistol (relatively cheap) that adds 25 Attack and 15 Defense (which is a lot!). When my 33rd Mafia member joins, I can get my 15th gun.

It reminds me of Defense of the Ancients, where you trade items to strengthen your alliance with other players. The stronger your alliance, the greater the 'assistance' they'll lend you in battle, and the higher your chances of winning (an irony is that you could still be fighting your own allies...and you're supposed to be assisting one another for all fights).

I just wish I don't kill too much of my study-dedicated time because of this App. And I'm not yet sure if iMacros could help with automated clicks.

Find the App here.
